Year 6 - Sparrowhawks and Wolves
Autumn Term 2017
Please find attached a link to a SATs resources folder, shown at our SATs workshop
This half term our topic in year 6 is World War Two – a humanity based topic. We will be looking at all elements of the war.
As Readers we will explore non-fiction texts based on newspaper reports. Please continue to read regularly with your child at home!
As Writers we will be writing reports and learning about the vocabulary and grammar used to convey an appropriate message.
As Mathematicians we will focus on place value and all four operations. Pupils will learn to add, subtract, multiply and divide in a variety of contexts. Please continue to help your child become fluent in their times tables.
As Scientists we will be exploring light and dark.
As explorers we will be learning about each country’s roll within World War Two, whether they took part and if so were they allies or not.
PE lessons will take place on Monday’s and Wednesday’s. Please ensure pupils have their kit and trainers to run in. Swimming will also be taking place this term on a Monday’s.
The homework will be given out on a Friday and will be expected back in on Thursday the following week (unless otherwise stated). Spellings will also be taken home on Fridays and the children will be tested the following Thursday.
Finally, we would like you to thank you for your support and remind you that should you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
